Getting a new computer set up
We move your data, sign you back into email and cloud accounts, reconnect your printer, and carry over the settings that make the machine feel like yours. You leave with a computer that’s ready to use, not a weekend project.
Backups that work
Most people’s “backup” is a drive they plugged in once. We set up something automatic — external drive, cloud, or a hybrid — test that a restore actually works, and show you how to check it. If you’re also upgrading to an SSD, the transfer is included in that job.

How much does data transfer between computers cost in Marlboro, NJ?
Transferring your files and settings from an old computer to a new one runs $100 to $250, about $175 typical. The price depends on how much data there is and whether email, application settings and user accounts need to come across too.
What can you transfer to my new computer?
Documents, photos, music and video, downloads, desktop items, browser bookmarks and saved passwords, email and contacts, and many application settings. We can't move installed programs themselves — those get reinstalled on the new machine — but all of their data and preferences come across, so the programs work the way you left them once they're back.
My old computer won't turn on — can you still get the data off it?
Often, yes. If the drive itself is healthy we can remove it and pull the data directly. If the drive has failed, that becomes a [data recovery](/data-recovery/) job, which starts with a free evaluation and you only pay if we recover it.
Can you set up automatic backups so this doesn't happen again?
Yes. We'll set up a backup to an external drive, a cloud service, or both, and make sure it runs on its own and that you know how to restore from it. A working backup is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
